How do we keep the faith in an ever-changing and unpredictable world? As Believers in Christ, we make a deliberate choice to believe in God’s faithfulness. We make His Word our truth serum. No matter how impossible a situation may seem, we remember our limited perspective. We cannot see beyond the present moment. Only God sees the entire picture: the beginning, middle and end.
In an ever-changing and unpredictable world, we choose to have faith.
However, God will often wait until a situation is impossible before He works a miracle. You may be asking yourself the question, “Why would He wait when He knows we are suffering?” It’s because, he wants us to look beyond our circumstances. He wants us to shift our focus to Him and His faithfulness.
Let’s look at this through the eyes of parenthood. As a mother or father, we want our children to know with certainty that we will do anything and everything we can to protect and provide for them. The same is true with God but to a greater degree. God wants His children to trust and rely upon Him. (see Matthew 7:11 and Luke 11:13)
When my faith falters, I remind myself: where I am weak, He is strong
God wants us to recognize our weakness and inability to live a fruitful life without His help. However, most of us are too self-reliant to make God’s Word our first place of refuge and encouragement. It is only after our well of options have run dry that we admit our weakness and seek God’s strength in times of distress.
The 6th chapter of Hebrews teaches us that the promises of God are unchanging and trustworthy because He is unchanging and trustworthy.
A key attribute of God’s character is His immutability. He is not susceptible or capable of changing His mind. The root transliteration for the word, unchangeable is the Greek word, ametathetos. (see Thayer’s Greek Lexicon: Strongs NT 276 – ἀμετάθετος, defined as: not transposed, not to be transferred; fixed, unalterable: immutable).
Our God is faithful, all the time.
Life becomes much more enjoyable when we allow God’s Word to be our antidote for every painful or difficult circumstance. So, the next time you find yourself in a desperate situation, don’t be discouraged. Instead, choose to believe in the faithfulness and unchanging nature of your loving heavenly Father. The more impossible the situation, the greater glory He receives when He steps in to do what only He can do! Let’s learn to live in eager expectation of what God will do in the lives of those who put their faith and trust exclusively in Him.
Sending peace, love and happiness to all!
