I am excited to report that renovations are underway in my makeup studio and will be completed in time for holiday makeup applications next month!! As you may know, my studio is located in the bottom floor of our home and was a spare bedroom prior to Darren and I getting married last year. The room was carpeted and painted a beautiful deep shade of red which unfortunately doesn’t work out well now that it is being used as a makeup studio. For the last several weeks I have been perusing Pinterest looking for inspiration and ideas for my new makeup studio and I can’t wait to do a final reveal when the work is completed later this month.
On Saturday morning we began the task of removing the carpet and padding to prepare for the painters that are coming in midweek. Although we haven’t decided what we are going to do with the floor, Darren spent much of the afternoon sanding the concrete to remove the carpet glue and smooth the surface. We rented a floor sander from Home Depot that had a bag attachment thinking that it would contain the dust however, it didn’t quite to the job as well as we had hoped.
With the exception of our third floor, the entire house was covered in a thick layer of gray dust including all my glassware and crystal that wasn’t stored in cabinets. On a positive note, I discovered a much easier way to clean my larger crystal and glass pieces that don’t quite fit in the kitchen sink. I placed a large plastic bin in the bathtub and filled it with hot water and antibacterial dish detergent so that I could wash and dry the items that I use in the studio which made the whole process much faster than normal.
If you have any creative ideas for the floor, I would love for you to share them in the comment section below.
Look forward to sharing the finished studio photos with you soon!
Sending peace, love and happiness to all!
