Before creating the By Terry cosmetic line, Terry de Gunzberg spent 15 years working alongside famed designer, Yves Saint Laurent. During her tenure with YSL she served as head of the cosmetics department, marketing, art direction and product development. In 1991 Terry’s expertise in cosmetic formulations led her to create the iconic YSL Touche Eclat highlighter pen, the very first cosmetic highlighter to hit the market.
Touche Eclat continues to be a sought after beauty tool by top makeup artists, models, celebrities and women everywhere with one being sold somewhere in the world every 10 seconds! (read more about Terry de Gunzberg in my examiner article, Terry de Gunzburg, the woman behind the brand.)
In 1998, Terry launched the By Terry cosmetics line which has become one of the bestselling premium cosmetic lines on the market today. I am a huge fan of the By Terry products with some of my favorites being Terrybly Densiliss serum foundation, Terrybly Densiliss concealer, Touche expert advanced, Touche Veloutee Highlighting Concealer, Hyaluronic Hydrapowder, Baume de Rose, Ombre Blackstar, Crayon Khol Terrybly Multicare Eye Definer and Crayon Levres Terrybly Lip Liner.
Of all cosmetic categories, the concealer category most often fails to meet my needs or expectations. Specifically, concealer shade ranges are formulated to cover blemishes and skin imperfections and offer little if any color correcting properties. As a makeup artist, this frustrates me greatly. The majority of women over the age of 30 typically use concealer to hide dark, under eye circles. Given that dark circles tend to have a bluish cast, color theory rules should be applied. Blue and orange are color compliments meaning an apricot or peachy shade of concealer would be needed to neutralize the aforementioned dark circles. One of the reasons I am so fond of the By Terry line is that they include peach based complexion perfectors in their product line.
Terrybly Densiliss Concealer
By Terry’s Terrybly Densiliss concealer is a serum based liquid concealer designed to provide natural looking coverage to the delicate under eye area. Much like Terrybly Densiliss Foundation, the formula is a hybrid anti-aging serum and color cosmetic that promises to firm, rejuvenate and repair skin through By Terry’s patented Densiliss® technology. The liquid formula is highly pigmented and allows opaque coverage with a small amount of product. Terrybly Densiliss concealer feels more like a serum than a cream and dries down to a satin finish that doesn’t accentuate fine lines. Priced at $69 for approximately a quarter of an ounce, Terrybly Densiliss concealer is one of the most expensive concealers on the market. However, it is worth every dime to women like me who struggle to find an under eye concealer that provides good coverage and neutralization of dark circles without making the under eye area look crepey and chalky.
Terrybly Densiliss concealer shades:
- Fresh Fair: pink/peachy undertone that helps neutralize under eye circles on fair to light skin
- Vanilla Beige: light beige with neutral undertones
- Natural Beige: light beige with yellow undertones
- Medium Peach: light to medium beige with peach undertones that helps neutralize under eye circles on light to medium skin
- Desert Beige: medium to dark beige with warm, golden undertones
- Sienna Copper: medium to dark beige with warm undertones, peachy undertone makes this shade appear brighter than shade 5. Works well for neutralizing dark circles on deep skin tones

“Luxury is a rare thing because it requires to be created with strictness and sincerity that are the expressions of a real expertise. There can be no deluxe products without expertise. A deluxe product is not necessarily expensive but is right. Beauty is certainly not a stereotype. It is a style one cultivates, an expression one asserts. Beauty is a real pleasure about our own self and also a bit of narcissism or even a lot of narcissism.” ~Terry de Gunzburg
Hope to see you at the event!
Sending peace, love and happiness to all!
