Have you ever experienced a loss that you thought you would never recover from? I have and honestly, I just don’t know how one could get through it without the healing and comforting love of God.
Last year my world was rocked by a devastating betrayal. At the time, I found it difficult to believe the ashes of my broken dreams could ever be turned to beauty. Thankfully, God is never far from the brokenhearted. Just this morning, He whispered sweet melodies of assurance to me through His Word. Reminding me that staying strong in my faith and identity in Him is crucial not only in the healing process, but also in fulfilling His purposes for my life. His most obvious reminder is a Facebook memory from August 2012 that popped up on my feed today. The post was published 10 days after I implemented the early morning routine of spending quality time with Jesus, His Word and of course, a giant cup of coffee (aka Breakfast with God).
“I am so grateful to be a child of God and free from worry and doubt. Every day I see a blessing or miracle in my life, many that are direct answers to prayer!”
I imagine you have found yourself in a similar faith-sapping struggle as well. It can be very challenging to forge ahead when it seems the enemy is doing everything he can to derail you. Oftentimes, his pursuit becomes more fervent when we are just a few short steps from reaching our God-ordained destiny. This is the reason why having a regular dialog with God through a personal daily relationship is so important.
The Bible tells us God sent His Word to accomplish His perfect will in our lives. If God’s Word makes a promise, it will come to fruition in accordance with His perfect timing. Isaiah 55:11 states this message with the utmost eloquence:
“11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.“
Going to church or listening to Biblical messages is not a substitute for personal interaction with God’s word. If you do not have a daily routine of spending time with God, why not set aside a few minutes in the morning over the next 7 days and dedicate them to Him. Imagine how different the world would be if we chose to spend the first 5 minutes of our day with Jesus instead of social media or the news!
Although the last year has been the most difficult year to date Jesus has been with me every step of the way. Not only has He provided much needed comfort, He has also deepened my trust, faith and passion for Him tenfold. This single act of obedience to seek God first in my life has drastically transformed me as a person, a parent, a friend and follower in beautiful and glorious ways…beauty for ashes.
